Andronicus II Palaeologus, 1282-1328. Trachy (Bronze, 21 mm, 1.37 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. O/A/Γ[...] Half-length bust of St. Demetrius, nimbate and beardless, in military attire, holding small cross before chest. Rev. On the left, Andronicus II standing facing, wearing stemma, divitision and loros and holding cruciform scepter; on the right, Christ standing front, head to left, nimbate, wearing tunic and colobion, blessing or crowning the emperor with his right hand; above, six-pointed star; between, B. Bendall, LPC, p. 204, 2. SB 2360. Struck from worn dies, otherwise, about very fine.
